MAKKAH: A foreign worker was run over by his own vehicle in a robbery in Al-Rusaifah district of Makkah yesterday.
Maj. Zaki Al-Ruhaili, a spokesman for Makkah police, said the victim, a Yemeni national, worked as a representative for a medical company.
The attack took place as the man was collecting sales proceeds from pharmacies owned by his company in a number of locations in the city.
The man stopped in front of a shop to buy something, leaving the money in the idling car. When he left the shop he saw someone inside his car trying to steal the vehicle.
The man fled the scene with the car and the Yemeni attempted to block his way. The thief ran over the Yemeni causing serious head injuries and fractures. He was taken to King Abdul Aziz Hospital and was pronounced dead a few hours later.
Police said the case was still under investigation and more details would be revealed soon.
