AL-JOUF: A judge in Sakaka, in the northern province of Al-Jouf, sentenced a young man to 13 years in prison and 1,000 lashes for mistreating his parents.
The lawsuit was filed by the youth’s mother, who had lodged two previous complaints against him. The youth, who has a criminal record, was also responsible for burning down his father’s home and had often threatened to slit his mother’s throat. It is thought that the youth is a drug abuser.
Meanwhile, Al-Jouf Civil Defense extinguished a fire at a gas station on King Khaled Road in Sakaka. Three Civil Defense teams attended the blaze. Civil Defense officials said early investigations show that the fire started inside a gas tank and was perhaps caused by a spark during maintenance. One worker suffered minor burns.
