JAZAN: Police in Jazan said they foiled an attempt to smuggle bombs inside Saudi Arabia from Yemen through rough mountain roads, Al-Yaum reported yesterday. Police were monitoring a man in a rough mountain area. When he was surrounded and searched, police found 10 handmade bombs and other weapons. The man was arrested and the case is under investigation.

Peddlers busted

JAZAN: Border police in Jazan arrested three smugglers, who were charged with smuggling hashish and other drugs into the Kingdom, Al-Riyadh reported yesterday. The men reportedly attempted to smuggle the drugs inside their shoes.

Illegal ends life

JAZAN: A 30-year-old illegal foreign worker was found dead inside his room after he hanged himself, Al-Jazriah reported. The nationality of the man was cited only as “Asian.” Police arrived at the location after receiving reports of a dead body found inside a room. Police ruled out foul play because they found no sign of struggle or forced entry.

Expats clash

MADINAH: Two groups — one comprised of Pakistanis and the other of Bangladeshis — clashed in a commercial center here, a local newspaper reported yesterday. The fight allegedly broke out over racial slurs. Seven of the men involved had to go to hospital for treatment of fight-related injuries. Police are investigating.

Shops shut down

AL-JOUF: The Health Department of Al-Jouf municipality conducted more than 244 field inspections on restaurants and shops that sell food items, identifying 98 infractions and shutting down 32 outlets. Officials seized more than 600 kg of fish and 200 kg of red meat deemed spoiled.
