TAIF: Police stopped a fight between students belonging to two different tribes in a school in Bujanoub, a town in the south of Taif yesterday.
The fight was a sequel to an earlier one two weeks ago. “There was a fight between two student groups two weeks ago and yesterday’s developments are attributed to that fight. The students damaged a number of cars parked in front of the school,” Maj. Turki Al-Shahri, Taif police spokesman, told Arab News.
The officer added that on receiving reports of clashes between some students in the school in the morning, police patrols were sent there and the situation was brought under control. No one was seriously injured in the fight.
“Police detained some of the quarreling students and are searching for other troublemakers,” Al-Shahri said.
Muhammad Saeed, director of education in Taif, blamed the lack of cooperation from parents for the violence.
The director had set up a peacemaking committee shortly after troubles started two weeks ago. “The guardians of the involved students were divided in the matter of cooperating with our committee. One section strongly opposed the efforts of the committee to bring about peace between the students,” the director said. The police are investigating.
