JEDDAH: A social development forum will be held in Jeddah on June 6-8 with the support of Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, Jeddah Gov. Prince Mishaal bin Majed told a press conference here on Tuesday.

Prince Mishaal, who was accompanied by Minister of Social Affairs Yousuf Al-Othaimeen, said the forum, with the theme “From sponsorship to sustainability,” was designed to promote social work.

“The forum will be a milestone in the social development of Saudi Arabia,” said Prince Mishaal, who chairs the Society of Majed Bin Abdul Aziz for Development and Social Services.

The forum will host people with long expertise from many countries, including neighboring Arab states, to discuss their practical experience in the field.

Prince Mishaal said the forum would focus on the activation of multiple partnerships in various trends and the introduction of nonprofit departments through improved performance.

Al-Othaimeen said the objectives of the forum include defining social work, enhancing the capabilities of nonprofit organizations, increasing contacts between them and civil society, organizing social development forums and coming up with recommendations for sustainable development.

The forum targets various groups, including governmental and private sector agencies, charities and civil society groups.

The society’s official website (www.sdf.org.sa) allows registration of delegates and participants.
