JEDDAH: More than 30 Saudis broke the waves in Red Bull Jet Ski competition held at Obhur in Jeddah on Friday.
The championship, results that were announced yesterday, was held under the supervision of Saudi Arabian Maritime Sports Federation and in collaboration with Al Ahlam Maritime Tourism Group.
Acrobatics performed by Jet Ski world champions were held alongside the competition. Moreover, Middle East Champion Rashid Al-Tayer (UAE) introduced intensive training courses on the art of Jet Ski sport for all the participants in the competition.
Prince Abdullah bin Saud bin Mohammed bin Abdul Aziz, member of Jeddah Tourism Committee and president of Al Ahlam Maritime Tourism Group, said selecting the Marsa Al Ahlam as the starting point for launching the competition was a natural choice due to expected participation of a large number of jet skiers.
The location also is capable of hosting large marine competitions and accommodating a number of spectators. This has been proven during the successful hosting of world speedboat racing (Formula 2000) which featured during the last Obhur tourist festival.
