JEDDAH: Who said that only supermodels could strut down the catwalk with the latest fashionable outfits?
On Wednesday, 17 children between the ages of 5 and 11 dumbfounded the audience with their sweet innocence and extreme cuteness, modeling the latest in haute couture for youngsters.
The kids dazzled onlookers at Etre Department Store in Jeddah’s gigantic Red Sea mall.
The event aimed at attracting wealthier clientele to the store.
The very cute, stylish and trendy outfits for the kids were a mixture of famous international brands, such as Iceberg, Roccobarocco, Miss Bluemarine, Bonger, Byblos and others. The clothes included summer formals as well as denims and party wear.
“We have invited the elite and the VIP’s to come for the fashion show. We wanted to market the store and to let people know about it through this event,” said Mona Al-Ahdab who organized the event. “The fashion show was very successful.”
Proud mothers encouraged their sons and daughters as they exhibited the fashions.
Both smiling confident kids and the introverted ones who were crying were received with loud applause; some mothers walked with the more anxious children.
The audience was taking photos of the young superstars throughout the one-hour fashion show.
Gianmarko Dib, 6, who participated in the show said that he enjoyed the experience and liked the Italian brands Byblos and Gianfranco Ferre.
Some children were so confident they started blowing kisses at the end of the night.
Other kids, perhaps with a little stage fright, strutted down the catwalk with tears in their eyes.
Crying or not, kids are always cute when they’re all spiffed up in nice outfits!
