RIYADH: Police have arrested a suspect in a murder of a man in his 30s whose body was found abandoned in the desert about a year ago, a local newspaper reported yesterday. The investigation centered on the only physical evidence available: a bloody thobe discarded near the body.
The thobe was made by a Riyadh tailor who yielded about 50 names of people over the past two years who have thobes of similar measurements. Police found one man’s measurements were an exact match and traced the name to a residence in the south of the Kingdom where a 68-year-old man lived. The old man had three sons.
After further investigations, police arrested the man’s second son, who was known for his bad temperament and abuse of drugs. When confronted with evidence he confessed to the crime.
He gave the police details about the crime and the man he had killed. Police said the victim was not among people listed as missing based on reports filed by their families. Police are still searching for relatives of the murdered man.
