JEDDAH: Police are investigating the discovery of a body found inside a garage in Al-Ruwais district of Jeddah, the daily Al-Madinah reported yesterday. A forensic team arrived at the location to examine the body and determine the cause of death. Authorities suspect the man was bludgeoned to death. A man at the scene, who did not provide his name, said he saw the victim at the Isha prayer the previous night and that he was a man of good character with no known enemies. He said the man worked in the garage where his body was found.
Woman tries to poison family
MAKKAH: Prosecutors in Makkah opened an investigation after a woman in her 30s allegedly tried to poison her family members, Al-Riyadh newspaper reported yesterday. Family members informed police after the woman served them food that tasted terrible. Pre-liminary investigations revealed that the woman tainted the meal with rat poison and that she had many problems with her family.
Students boycott university event
HAIL: Outraged at the plan to play music at Hail University’s graduation ceremony, a number of students and teachers boycotted the event. According to a local newspaper report yesterday, a judge in the local court backed the decision to request the university to call off the music program. The university received several requests to exclude music from the function shortly before the function. However, Ahmad Al-Said, president of Hail University, claimed that all students and teachers, except a few, attended the function. He said even students of the faculty of Islamic culture were present.
