MANAMA: The Center for Islamic Finance of Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF) is organizing a course on capital markets in Bahrain from June 30-July 1. Simone Carminati, senior vice president and head of the Training Academy of Bahrain Financial Exchange, will conduct the program. The course provides participants with a clear understanding of how capital markets work, their segmentation, who their key participants are and the instruments that are used.
The objectives of the course include listing the different capital markets and key participants, summarizing the roles of market participants, describing how primary and secondary markets work, calculating key equity ratios, producing a yield curve, illustrating the main financial product for each market, and completing and evaluating hedging case studies.
Among the course highlights are introduction to capital markets, market risks and hierarchy, instruments like equities, bonds, treasury bills, CDs, repos, derivatives including futures, forwards, options and swaps, and a primary and secondary markets, including initial public offering, from bond origination to secondary market, and new derivative contracts and their way to success.
Its target audience includes employees of energy companies, government policy markers, treasury professionals, portfolio managers, investment advisors, accountants, lawyers, fund managers, traders, analysts, compliance officers, and anyone who needs a solid introduction to energy market.
