MAKKAH: Authorities in Makkah have begun several projects to improve the city’s underdeveloped neighborhoods.
“The projects involve six districts situated on King Abdul Aziz Road parallel to Umm Al-Qura Road and Jabal Umar,” Abdul Aziz Al-Khodairy, undersecretary at the Makkah governorate and chairman of the Districts Council in Makkah, said yesterday.
Al-Khodairy made the comments while opening the council’s annual meeting at the Grand Coral Hotel in Makkah. “Obstacles in the implementation of the projects were countless but all of them have been overcome with the government’s help in order to implement its strategy to develop these neighborhoods,” he added.
The meeting was held to improve the mechanisms and programs for cultivating positive communication among all members of the public in Makkah.
Yahya Zamzami, the council’s secretary-general, also stressed that the purpose of the meeting was to increase positive interaction among residents of the different districts of Makkah.
