TABUK: DNA tests carried out on a girl found at Riyadh’s King Khaled International Airport a few days ago have proved she is not Ebtihal, the Al-Mutairi girl whose case was given widespread media coverage following her disappearance on April 5, 2006.
A police source said the DNA results did not match that of Ebtihal’s family though the girl found at the airport resembled Ebtihal. He added that the search for Ebtihal, who was three when she went missing, would continue.
Police who found the girl at the airport thought she might be Ebtihal. Prior to the DNA testing, Ebtihal’s father, Sultan Marzouk Al-Mutairi, said the girl might not be his daughter, as she looked different, a view also shared by her brother. He also said a DNA test would confirm whether she is his daughter or not.
Ebtihal’s disappearance in April 2006 attracted lots of media coverage with Riyadh Gov. Prince Salman and other top official showing interest in finding her.
Ebtihal went missing after leaving her home in Majmaa, 200 km north of Riyadh, with her father and sisters.
