JEDDAH: An employment program run by the Society for Districts Centers in Jeddah helped 140 youths find jobs.
“We directed 100 men and 40 women to visit the Labor Office for placements,” Hassan Al-Zahrani, the society’s secretary-general, told Arab News yesterday.
“This is the third employment program launched by the society, which has 24 member districts. In the past two programs, the society, in collaboration with the Labor Office, succeeded in finding jobs for 2,000 men and women in addition to 60 jobs for people with special needs,” Al-Zahrani said.
He added that the society has also found 600 summer jobs for students, details of which would be published by respective centers shortly.
Qusay Al-Filali, director of the Labor Office in Jeddah, told Arab News that his office had been working on a program to find jobs for students during the summer vacation.
“The office, on the basis of a ministerial order, has directed private companies to provide details of their vacant positions ... The Labor Office aims to employ 14,500 students this summer as it did last year,” he said.
“The Technical and Vocational Training Center is expected to receive applications from students and send them to prospective employers,” he added.
