RIYADH: Saudi security forces yesterday arrested a wanted Al-Qaeda member after a brief shootout in the central city of Buraidah, Interior Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Mansour Al-Turki said. “Security agencies were able to locate one of the wanted men who has direct links with the deviant group outside the Kingdom. He was in a house in Al-Sadah district of Buraidah,”Al-Turki said.
Al-Turki said he could not disclose the name of the man or details of his alleged crimes.
“Yes, he was involved in Al-Qaeda,” the spokesman told the AFP news agency.
The man was captured after he opened fire on security officials. He was finally seized with no injuries, Al-Turki said.
He added that the man was not one of the 85 people on a “most wanted” list released by Saudi Arabia in February.
