JEDDAH: A 25-year-old Saudi man was arrested on Friday for murdering an aged tow-truck driver whose body was found at the Briman junkyard in east Jeddah a few days ago.
Col. Misfar Al-Juaid, spokesman for Jeddah police, said the youth has admitted to killing the man. “He said he killed the old man because he wanted to free people from the influence of black magic,” he said.
The man’s statement alludes that he killed the old man suspecting him to be a magician. The dead man is believed to have been working as a tow-truck driver.
“The youth went to the old man’s house asking for help in towing his car to the Briman junkyard. On reaching a lonely place, the youth tied his headdress around the old man’s neck and throttled him,” said Al-Juaid.
The youth went into hiding in Madinah and Makkah, but was caught when he returned to his home in Al-Safa district of Jeddah.
