TAIF: Clutching a bloody knife, a man in Taif's Qamria district greeted police at the door of his residence on Thursday and showed them the bodies of his three children, Al-Madinah newspaper reported on Friday.

The man was promptly arrested on murder charges.

“The man in his 40s called police after committing the murders and described to them the details of his crime,” said Taif police spokesman Maj. Muhammad Al-Ghowaidi. “The man tied the children to a pillar in the house and then stabbed them with a sharp knife, one after the other.”

The children were identified as Raed, 5, and Siham, 6, and five-month-old Lamis. Attempts by Red Crescent responders to resuscitate the children were unsuccessful.

Neighbors say the man's wife had left him and the children two months earlier and that his disposition had changed after a crippling road accident two years ago.
