DHAHRAN: Dhahran Ahliyyah student Maisam Al-Ahmed travels this August to Stanford University in the United States to represent the Kingdom in the People to People Leadership Summit.
The 10th grader was nominated for the program based on scholastic merit, civic involvement and leadership potential.
“I’m really excited about this whole new experience that I’m sure I’ll enjoy and really benefit from,” Al-Ahmed said. “I feel really honored because out of so many students who were considered, I was the one chosen to represent Saudi Arabia.”
This summit has brought students with great leadership potential together annually since 1956. It selects students from around the globe enrolled in grades 6 through 11 for the 10-day program to learn what top colleges and universities seek in high school candidates. They also get the chance to work with attorneys, physicians, diplomats and artists
Coordinated by the People to People Ambassador Programs, the 2009 summits convene at leading US universities, including Columbia University, George Washington University, Johns Hopkins University, Harvard University, Stanford University, and University of California, Los Angeles.
