RIYADH: The family of a Sri Lankan accountant who went missing from his apartment in Riyadh is asking the Lankan government to help find him. Family members suspect foul play.
Anton Sugath Prasanna, a 31-year-old auditor at Al-Bandar House Contracting Establishment went missing from his home on May 15. Police and company officials discovered that the lights of his flat, located in the Bengali market district, were on and the fans were running.
Prageeth Prasanna, Sugath's younger brother, told Arab News yesterday over the phone from Colombo that Sugath was regular in his work and habits.
"He used to send us 90 percent of his salary from the Kingdom," he added.
Sugath, the second in a family of four boys and one girl, recently graduated from the University of Kelaniya and had hopes of marrying an Indian girl from Pune. Prageeth said he would call home every three days to check on his ill parents, who have not yet been informed of their son's disappearance.
"He was a responsible member of the family," he said. "We want the police to hold a full inquiry into this incident and tell us what happened."
An official from Al-Bandar House Contracting Establishment who did not want to be named said Sugath "maintained a clean record of service" and had no known debts. The company reported Sugath missing on May 17 but has yet to receive any updates on the case from the authorities.
Sabarullah Khan, charge d'affaires of the Sri Lankan Embassy, has called on the community to report any information pertaining to the missing man.
