JEDDAH: “Impressions,” an exhibition of children’s paintings, was opened on Saturday at Red Sea Mall as part of the Jeddah Ghair summer festival. “The paintings show our children’s dreams, aspirations, perceptions and impressions about the world,” Abdullah Bin Mahfouz, deputy chairman of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI), said at the opening of the exhibition. Some 200 children’s paintings and drawings are included in the exhibition. The children are all under six and include both Saudis and expatriates. Stressing JCCI’s keenness to encourage creative activities, Bin Mahfouz said: “JCCI should not be viewed as an entity for the exclusive promotion of economic activities. At the same time, it stands for the promotion of every activity that improves the quality of people’s lives,” the deputy chairman said. He also expressed his appreciation for the murals by child artists in the exhibition. Fatima Baazim, an official of the organizing committee, said the exhibition aimed at developing budding artistic talent. “The exhibition also has the objective of driving deep a sense of cultural heritage in children and inspiring them to come up with new creative ideas,” she said.
