JEDDAH: The office of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) in Makkah province has commended Mersal Village, the Kingdom’s largest theme park, for its contribution to promoting tourism in Jeddah.
An honorary plaque was given at a ceremony on Monday held at Jungle Land where Mohammed Al-Amri, SCTA’s executive director of tourism development in Makkah province, presented the shield to Haythem Nasier, CEO of Mersal Village.
“We would like to express our thanks and gratitude to Mersal Village for making an entertaining place for local tourists and families,” said Al-Amri. “The village has emerged over the last eight years as one of the Gulf region’s major tourist attractions,” said Nasier. “We are proud to play such a major role in supporting our local tourism.”
He added that the village has also established an academy to train young Saudis to work at such theme parks.
“Around 60 Saudi students have graduated from our academy this year and are now working in every part of the village,” said Nasier.
Al-Amri also said he expected five million visitors from different parts of the Kingdom to visit the Jeddah Ghair (“Jeddah is different”) summer festival.
