DAMMAM: A 60-year-old man and a two-year-old girl are the latest reported casualties of the sea in the Eastern Province, according to police. “The negligence of vacationers to heed safety measures and warnings placed by the Border Guard along the sea shores has caused these regrettable deaths,” said Col. Muhammad ibn Saad Al-Ghamdi, spokesman of the Border Guard in the Eastern Province. So far this year seven people have drowned and another 51 have been rescued from drowning. In 2008, ten people were reported drowned and 70 were rescued. Rescuers responded to cries for help from the old man swimming in the water off Jubail, but by the time they reached him he was dead.
