PUNE, India: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) health department ordered two English medium schools to close down for a week after H1NI virus had spread in the schools.
PMC health department chief Dr. RR Pardesi told Arab News that the swine flu scare gripped the two city schools, after one student each from Sevasadan English medium school and Symbiosis Primary School tested positive for Influenza A (H1N1) virus on Thursday evening.
“We have taken immediate measures ordered both the schools to shut down for the next eight days.
The two students who tested positive comprised a senior KG girl from Sevasadan School and a Standard VI girl student form Symbiosis. Both have been admitted to the civic Naidu Hospital quarantine ward,” Pardesi said.
The health chief said the two students probably contracted the virus through contacts with earlier positive cases from the Abhinav school while commuting together through auto rickshaws or school vans.
Pardesi assured that there was ample stock of tamiflu tablets and there was no need to panic.
