ABHA: Health inspectors in Asir municipality have uncovered a large quantity of foodstuff stored by a supply company in an unhygienic method at a house in Jujan on the Abha-Khamis Mushayt road. The company, which was not named, was storing its stock in a residential unit occupied by its foreign workers.
“This is a gross violation of rules and regulations,” said Jabir Hamza Asiri, the municipality’s director of environmental health
The foodstuff was being supplied to the Comprehensive Rehabilitation Center in Abha, which services the mentally and physically disabled.
However, the director of the center, Saleh ibn Ali Al-Zuhairi, said the center receives raw food that is cooked inside the center itself.
“We receive the foodstuff from the representative of the supply company every day by a special committee, including a nutrition specialists and a medical doctor,” he said.
Asiri did not name the supply company but said the store in the house was closed down and the company would be fined.
