JEDDAH: Muhammad Abdo will sing at the Jeddah stadium on Sunday for the Jeddah Ghair summer festival. “Muhammad Abdo and Rabih Saqar will start performing at 10 p.m.,” Saud Salem, program coordinator of musical events at the festival, said in statement on Friday. Salem added that the troupe accompanying the two singers is fully ready for the event with rehearsals following a performance recently in Cairo. Salem said that local fans are waiting eagerly to listen to Abdo. Four years ago Abdo sang the popular song “Al-Amaken” for the first time at this venue. He said that Abdo would sing his new song “Nawaras,” by Naser Al-Saleh on that night. He will sing about 20 of his hits.
Meanwhile, Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs Ambassador Abdullah Abdul Rahman Alim opened on Monday evening the activities in Obhur. Deputy mayor of Jeddah Khalid Aqeel, diplomats, officials of the municipality and OIC staff attended the function. The exhibition coincides with the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the OIC.
Chairman of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry Muhammad ibn Abdul Qadir Al-Fadl said the festival has helped increase hotel occupancy, which reached 73 percent last week. He said Jeddah, which has 3,600 hotel rooms at present, is expected to have 5,500 rooms by the year 2014.
