DHAHRAN: The Gulf Toastmasters Leadership Institute conducted Speaker to Trainer, a training program, at Dahran International Hotel for prominent leaders from the Eastern Province Toastmasters fraternity.

The Toastmasters Leadership Institute is a new concept introduced by Toastmasters International to provide training to its senior members and leaders to enable them to be more proficient and efficient trainers.

First Governor of Gulf Toastmasters Council and an adviser of the Toastmasters Leadership Mathews P. Kurien was the lead trainer.

The objective of the training was to equip speakers with faculties required to turn them into trainers.

Kurien opened the session highlighting the need for trainers in every segment of society and stressed on community services and the world of corporate business.

Nusheen Hafeez’s workshop introduced the basic differences between a speaker and a trainer and methodology in transforming a speaker to a trainer.

Firoz Ahmed conducted a workshop on Adult Learning Theory and Yousef Ba-Isa presented a talk on facilitation techniques applied to training programs.

Kurien elaborated on the importance of gauging the participants’ awareness level before setting the training objectives. He was elaborate on effective use of visual aids such as flip charts and overhead projectors.

His presentation on how to respond to difficult behavior was hilarious and very effective. PGR Nair, Waheed Lateef and Jacob Kuriakose supported the presentation with an educationally entertaining role-play to the applause of the participants.

The three Toastmasters Divisions from the Eastern Province organized the program jointly and division governors Ali Al-Qahtani, Lateef and Syed H. Faizualla were present.
