ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi Friday said Pakistan greatly values its distinguished relations with Saudi Arabia and is keen to further strengthen ties.

This resolve emerged during a meeting with Saudi Ambassador Abdul Aziz bin Ibrahim bin Saleh Al-Ghadeer, where the minister discussed bilateral relations and other matters of mutual interest.

In the meeting, the Saudi ambassador offered his gratitude for the assistance he has been receiving from the government of Pakistan in the performance of his functions.

They expressed satisfaction over the existing excellent relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

The foreign minister appreciated the determination of the ambassador toward promoting relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

He said Pakistan greatly valued its distinguished relations with the Kingdom and was keen to further strengthen its relations with Saudi Arabia in various fields especially in the economic, commerce and investment sectors.

The foreign minister also raised the matter regarding the five Pakistanis arrested on drug charges at Jeddah airport on June 2 and urged the need for an early resolution of the issue.
