JAZAN: A minor earthquake occurred in southern Jazan province at 2:50 a.m. on Thursday. The Saudi Geological Survey reported the quake had a magnitude of 3.5 on the Richter scale.

Residents of Aarida, Abu Arish, Sabya, Dhamad and Uhd Masariha said they had felt the quake. They initially thought that it was the result of the ongoing military confrontation between Yemeni forces and Houthis.

“But when we saw the tremor continued for several seconds, we came to the conclusion that it was an earthquake,” Adel Makeen, a Saudi, said.

He said he felt the quake at the time of Sahoor on Wednesday night and observed that the utensils at his house were experiencing a minor shake.
