ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Prime Minister Sayed Yousaf Raza Gilani stated here on Thursday evening that relations between Pakistan and the Kingdom are excellent and that his government will continue to work to maintain this.
“Pakistan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia enjoy the best of relations in all spheres. We attach great significance to our bilateral relations with our time-tested Islamic friend, Saudi Arabia,” he said.
Gilani was speaking to journalists at an Iftar dinner hosted in his honor by the new Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Abdul Aziz Al-Ghadeer.
The Iftar dinner was also attended by diplomats, several cabinet ministers and politicians from PML (N), the Awami National Party and the Pakistan Muslim League (Q).
Gilani also offered his gratitude to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah for extending timely assistance to Pakistan during past calamities, particularly during the unprecedented 2005 earthquake.
“Our relations with the Kingdom are multifaceted. We do not only enjoy government-to-government relations but people-to-people relations have remained at an all time best.
“We are knotted in the strongest bond of Islam and our traditional relations have improved from strength to strength,” he said.
“Pakistan and the Kingdom are two important players within the framework of the OIC and they have always adopted a united approach to regional issues,” he added.
