TABUK: Three youths in Tabuk came up with a novel idea to attract the attention of girls, something that also led to their arrest. According to Al-Watan newspaper, the youths stuck SR500 notes on their car to attract members of the opposite sex. Irked by their behavior, young women in this city reported them to members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice who began a search for them. With commission members hot in pursuit, the youths’ car eventually hit a lamppost. Commission members then moved in and arrested the trio and seized SR10,000 in cash. Brig. Saleh Al-Harbi, spokesman for Tabuk police, said the youths have been detained and are being questioned.
Six-year-old registered with traffic violation
JEDDAH: A Saudi in the northern city of Arar was surprised to come across a traffic violation marked against his six-year-old brother. Mufleh Majnan Al-Ruwaili said he came across a traffic violation (numbering 0012525989 with the date 2/10/1418) issued by the Traffic Department in Makkah while processing his brother’s passport application at a passport office in the Northern Border Province. Al-Ruwaili then approached the local traffic department to get the violation canceled but was told the process to get it canceled with the Makkah traffic police would take at least three months, Al-Madinah reported.
‘Not over my grandmother’s grave’
MAKKAH: Devoted to the memory of his late grandmother, a drunken man launched a torrent of abuse against officials from a Red Crescent center here claiming their offices had been built over the grave of his grandmother who died several years ago. Red Crescent officials kept the man, an African resident of the city, talking while police arrived. The man was subsequently arrested, Shams newspaper reported. The Red Crescent office is located in a district that is home to a large number of Africans.
