MAKKAH: A 20-year-old American pilgrim has been missing in Makkah for the last 10 days. The youth, who has been identified as Najib Nagho, arrived in Makkah on Aug. 24 with his family. In a police report, the youth’s father, Abdullah Nagho, said his son was suffering from some mental illness and that he fears he may have got lost in the streets close to the Grand Mosque. Maj. Abdul Muhsen Al-Mayman, spokesman for Makkah police, said the police are trying their best to find the youth.

Riyadh police arrest thieves

RIYADH: Police in Riyadh arrested two men in their 30s who, taking advantage of the quiet Ramadan mornings, were in the process of robbing a depot in the Al-Ghoroob neighborhood of Riyadh, Al-Jazirah reported. The two thieves were arrested by a police patrol who noticed their car and that the doors of the depot were open. On seeing the police, the thieves fled but were then arrested by police who gave chase.

Police seize firecrackers

JEDDAH: Jeddah police have confiscated large quantities of fireworks stored in shops located near recreation centers. Police also raided buildings that were used by traders of fireworks to hide their goods. Police arrested a number of people involved in selling fireworks for questioning.
