JEDDAH: Jeddah municipality has persuaded sewage truck contractors to reduce the charges for pumping sewage after receiving complaints from local residents about the high fees charged by truck contractors.
After a meeting with sewage truck contractors on Monday, Ibrahim Sibae, director general of the Department of Coordination and Developmental Initiative at the mayor’s office said the contractors agreed to charge a maximum fee of SR80 for 12-ton trucks, SR100 for 19-ton trucks, SR150 for 29-ton trucks on contract for sewage removal.
If the service is without contract the charge will be SR100 for 12-ton, SR130 for 19-ton and SR180 for 29-ton, Sibae told reporters.
Sibae added that the municipality is not the authority to determine the fee for sewage truck service, however the municipality took the initiative to make the contractors agree to the reduced charges in the interests of the public.
