JEDDAH: Abdullah Al-Othaim, the chief judge at the summary court in Jeddah, confirmed on Saturday that his court had received the file of Mazen Abdul Jawad, the Saudi who appeared on LBC’s “Bold Red Line” in July bragging about his sex life.
“We have received today (Saturday) the files of Abdul Jawad and others who were involved in the case,” Al-Othaim said. He stressed the crime is moral rather than a media infraction.
But Abdul Jawad’s lawyer objected to Al-Othaim’s claim and said the case, being an information issue, should not have been passed to the court. “There are other parties to look into such cases,” the lawyer said.
Al-Othaim said the schedules for hearing the arguments of Abdul Jawad and the three other men who appeared with him on the program would be fixed shortly. Sources, meanwhile, told Arab News that the hearing sessions are likely to start soon after Eid Al-Fitr holidays.
