RAMALLAH: A Nablus court on Monday sentenced a Palestinian to 17 years in prison for “collaborating with Israeli occupation.”
Judge Sa’ed Al-Hamdallah said the citizen, who is in his 20s, was indicted “for collaborating with a foreign state and harming the interests of Palestinian National Authority.” He said the “court reduced his sentences from life imprisonment to 17 years in jail because he was a teenager at the time of committing the crime.”
Palestinian sources told Arab News that the citizen had “passed information that helped the Israeli occupation assassinate Ibrahim Al-Fayid, head of Fatah’s military wing Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, in October 2004.”
Collaboration, usually involving supplying information to Israeli security agencies about Palestinian armed men, carries the death penalty in Palestinian Basic Law.
