JEDDAH: Thirty children from an orphanage had a pleasant surprise when they were honored by a corporate giant at an iftar party at Jungle Land in Mersal Village here over the weekend.
“I was looking forward to the event, not only for breaking my fast but also for enjoying myself at Jungle Land with my friends,” said Abdul Rahman, a seven-year-old.
“I had a great time as I found many attractions like a merry-go-round, a Ferris wheel and a movie theater,” said Ghaida Faisal, 9.
“It is not often that we visit places like this. We had a wonderful time together,” said 13-year-old Abdul Majed.
“We usually break our fast at the orphanage, but today it is different. This also shows there are people and organizations whom we can count on,” he said.
Saleh Alghamdi, director of Patronize Orphans, said there were at present 140 boys and girls in the orphanage, which has been operational for the last 15 years.
“We are fully devoted and dedicated to the welfare of our children. Islamic teachings form an important part of the education we give them. We also make efforts to see that they get a good all-round education so that they are able to stand on their own feet and earn a decent living,” he added.
Alghamdi had a word of praise for LG for hosting the iftar party for the children. “The children are all full of smiles,” he said.
“Hosting and honoring the children was a gesture thought of by LG this year, and we wanted to hold the party at a location that they would enjoy,” said Simon Lee, general manager of LG.
“This is our way of extending Ramadan greetings to these children,” he added.
