RIYADH: A Sri Lankan worker who was on the way to see his wife, child and mother who had come for Umrah died in a major accident in Taif which also claimed the life of a one-year-old child and injured three others. Rousdeen Mohamed Raiz, 38, a Sri Lankan office manager for a subcontractor of Saudi ARAMCO, was traveling with five of his relatives living in Dammam and the child, Mohamed Hairullah Altaf. The child’s parents and the driver of the car are all in the King Fahd Hospital in Taif. The accident took place at 12 noon on Tuesday when a speeding Camry driven by an Egyptian collided with the vehicle carrying the Sri Lankans. The driver, who suffered no injuries, is in police custody.
3 killed in Jazan car collision
JAZAN: A man and two women died and seven others were injured when two cars collided near here, early Wednesday. A spokesman for Civil Defense in the Jazan Province said the bodies were taken to the morgue while the injured were rushed to hospital for treatment. The spokesman said that a Saudi citizen was killed when his car collided with another one. He said speed and overtaking were the causes of both the accidents.
