JEDDAH: The International Islamic Relief Organization, Saudi Arabia, (IIROSA) has successfully implemented its Break Fast Project in 31 countries around the world this Ramadan.
According to IIROSA’s Secretary-General Adnan Khalil Basha, 27,775 poor families benefited from this project, which involves providing Ramadan meals for needy families.
The IIROSA, as is its annual custom, provided free meals to thousands of peoples observing Ramadan fast in Asia, Africa and Europe. The charity made the necessary preparations and coordinated with its domestic and external branch offices to ensure the successful implementation of the program.
Basha said the Ramadan free meals contain all types of nutrients needed by those fasting. The program was also implemented in the Kingdom.
This project, which brought happiness to thousands of needy families, has received extensive response from benefactors and well-wishers, said Basha.
IIROSA had earmarked SR6,260,000 for its Ramadan meal program in the Kingdom for the current season. The project covered 17,892 poor families in 15 regions.
Basha said IIROSA would continue its humanitarian role by the grace of Allah and thanked the generous donations of philanthropists in helping the organization fulfill its aims.
IIROSA also provided 10,000 schoolbags to the children of the poor and the needy in Makkah. In addition, they distributed 100,000 items of Eid clothing to schoolchildren in cooperation with local education officials.
Cash donations were also given out to a similar number of students. The charity, in collaboration with Al-Abir Association and the Association for the Retired in Makkah, also distributed food baskets to needy individuals.
