JEDDAH: The Friends of Jeddah Program (FJP) has joined an initiative run by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) to keep the world clean.
Amin Muhammad Simbawah, director of the Department of Social Development and Voluntary Programs at the Jeddah municipality, said FJP’s joining of the initiative consolidates the voluntary work that the organization carries out.
He added that the membership would also allow the FJP to share its knowledge and expertise with other UNEP partners.
Simbawah said the FJP is a volunteer organization that has been working hard to raise environmental awareness in Jeddah.
“The program is making continued efforts to contain and finally eliminate the environmental problems facing the city,” Simbawah said.
The FJP has also carried out a number of activities to keep Jeddah clean and improve its environment. It recently observed the World Land Day and is visiting schools to raise environmental awareness.
The UNEP was established in June 1972 and is headquartered in Nairobi (Kenya). It has six regional offices around the world.
