JEDDAH: The Saudi father of a baby who was taken from Qatif General Hospital 16 years ago is appealing a verdict issued by Riyadh’s Court of Grievances, which ordered the Ministry of Health to hand the man SR200,000.
“I am assigning a lawyer to appeal the verdict and fight for compensation for me and my wife for the damages we have suffered,” Muhammad bin Jaber Kahlani told Al-Watan newspaper.
“My wife and I have been in great pain, suffering physically and psychologically, since our baby was lost,” said Kahlani, who had worked in the army. He said he was relieved after 13 years of military service because the search for his lost baby made it impossible for him to attend work regularly.
Lawyer Sultan Al-Hawwas said he was waiting for an official authorization from Kahlani to file an appeal. He said he has obtained the relevant papers and court documents concerning the case.
Kahlani has also written to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah appealing him to put an end to his ordeal.
