JEDDAH: A court found an Egyptian tailor guilty of groping a young Saudi woman while taking her measurements and handed him 60 lashes.

A court source, who does not want to be named, told Arab News that the tailor did not object to the ruling, which was finalized following the approval of the Court of Cassation in Makkah.

He said the woman’s father took the case to the police, accusing the Egyptian of deliberately touching his daughter’s sensitive parts while taking measurements for a dress.

The man was questioned about the incident and his case was referred to the Prosecution and Investigation Commission, which took the case to court.

The court said the man was “guilty beyond doubt” and ordered the flogging to be done in one sitting. The court also took a written pledge from the woman’s father that his daughter would never go alone to tailor shops run by men.
