RIYADH: South Korean expatriates joined their counterparts the world over to celebrate their country’s National Foundation Day here on Saturday.
Addressing an official reception, which was attended by local officials, diplomats and businessmen, South Korean Ambassador Hong Jong-ki said the guests had welcomed the ‘Green’ evening marking the reception, under the theme “Green Growth: Toward a Greater Nation, a Healthier Planet.” Special guest of honor Dr. Nasser bin Abdulaziz Al-Dawood, special advisor at the Riyadh Region Governorate, appreciated the Korean initiative on the Green Growth Strategy. Almost all of the 500 guests present hailed the timely and meaningful event on climate change. The ambassador specifically designed the invitation card in line with the theme of Green Growth, a flagship project of the new Korean government. Green was also the color of the invitation. Alongside the reception hosted at the ambassador’s residence was a special exhibition, “Green Technology — Information Technology Pavilion,” held to demonstrate the sophisticated green products of Korean companies that lead Green Growth.
The ambassador also reviewed bilateral relations and said they were strengthening in all fields including trade, which continued to expand between the two countries. He had a word of praise for the Kingdom for hosting Korean workers.
