JEDDAH‭: ‬The scientific committee of the family violence forum concluded its meeting at Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry‭ (‬JCCI‭) ‬and called for the establishment of more centers to accommodate and take care of family victims in the Kingdom‭.‬

The meeting also urged activation of the Supreme Council for Family and strengthen the role of civil society establishments in receiving family violence victims‭. ‬It also sought to activate the law that prevents marriage of minors‭. ‬The forum emphasized the need to enlighten the public on the negative effects of family violence on the members of the family and society‭.‬

The participants wanted to make use of international experience in tackling family violence issues through exchange of information and field visits‭. ‬They said that the Health Ministry should be urged to open specialized centers for mental and medical treatment to victims‭.‬

The forum urged the Ministry of Islamic Affairs‭, ‬imams and dawa centers to enlighten the public on the harmful effects of family violence and how to deal with wives and children nicely‭.‬

Dr‭. ‬Abdullah Al-Muetani‭, ‬chairman of the forum's scientific committee and president of Human Rights Commission in the Makkah province‭, ‬said the meeting called for the establishment of social protection centers in all provinces of the country‭, ‬especially in most populated areas‭.‬

He emphasized the importance of preparing a comprehensive strategy to deal with family violence‭, ‬after allocating adequate funds for the purpose‭. ‬Experts discussed 22‭ ‬research papers on various aspects of family violence during the meeting‭.‬
