RIYADH: Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah on Saturday emphasized Saudi Arabia's efforts to acquire the latest scientific and technological products for the welfare of its people.
In his opening address at the international seminar on computer science and Arabic language, he said the Kingdom's efforts to Arabize computer science was aimed at protecting Arab and Islamic identity.
"By organizing this seminar, the Kingdom intends to strengthen the position of Arabic language and enhance its contributions to knowledge and make use of the latest computer technology," the king said.
King Abdullah's speech was read out on his behalf by Muhammad Al-Suwayel, president of King Abdulaziz City of Science and Technology (KACST).
