DUBAI: A Renewable Energy Roundtable will be held on Oct. 21 at the Gulf Research Center (GRC) in Abu Dhabi and it aims to address pressing issue of climate change.
The world continues to face the effects of climate change, and reducing our carbon footprint has never been more critical. As fossil fuel consumption cannot continue without harsh repercussions on the environment, new sustainable energy alternatives, policies and practices are required sooner rather than later.
The need to boost renewable energy research in the Arabian Gulf Region to meet growing energy demand is a high priority, especially since the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), officially launched in January 2009, is headquartered in Abu Dhabi.
Against this backdrop, the GRC is organizing a roundtable discussion to address the main issues facing renewable energy, especially solar power.
The roundtable discussion will provide valuable insights to governments, environment and energy agencies, companies as well as clean technology providers and energy investors in the run-up to the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in December 2009.
The roundtable will include presentations from eight speakers who are experts in different fields, reflecting the diversity of interest in the subject of Renewable Energy.
