A Riyadh judge has delayed a SR8 million case against the Ministry of Justice from a Saudi man for a home he bought that was later repossessed.
The decision comes after the ministry filed a request to postpone the legal action.
On Monday, Arab News reported the man, known only by his initials A.H., had bought the house in Makkah’s Aziziyah district five years ago.
According to the complaint filed with the Court of Grievances, the real estate office had only obtained permission to sell the property from four of six people listed on the deed.
“Mistakenly, the notary public considered all the owners to be unanimous in their authorization for selling, while two of them made it clear that they were not. This mistake cost me dearly,” he told Arab News at the time.
The two who objected then filed to reclaim the home. The court in Makkah ruled in their favor two years ago, but also ordered the real estate office to reimburse the homebuyer.
A.H. claims he has yet to receive the money, eventually leading him to take action against the Ministry of Justice.
The case will now be heard on 22nd December this year.
