YANBU: A 29-year-old Saudi driver of a security company who robbed SR10 million bound for a bank in Madinah was arrested on Saturday four hours after he sped away.
Fahd bin Amir Al-Ghannam, acting spokesman for Madinah police, said that the security company informed the police about the theft and that the entire amount was recovered.
“The driver drove off after two of his colleagues entered a bank to complete necessary paperwork to receive the cash which was supposed to be deposited in ATM machines in various parts of the city,” said the police spokesman.
“Police immediately launched a manhunt and arrested the driver in record time at the house of his relative in Yanbu.
“He has admitted to the crime and will be questioned before being handed over to the Prosecution and Investigation Board,” he added.
Al-Ghannam said that a description of the driver and his vehicle was given to all police stations as soon as the information about the crime was received.
He added that his vehicle was found abandoned in an alley in Yanbu.
