JEDDAH: Sixteen drivers will take part in the 5th and 6th rounds of Toyota Karting Race 2009 at Jeddah Race way for two days from Wednesday (Oct. 29).
There will be qualifying rounds before the event at 8:30 p.m. on the opening day to determine the places of drivers. The race will then start an hour later, and will be conducted on the basis of CIK-FIA rules.
All participants must hold a license issued by SATA locally on behalf of CIK. Also, all drivers have to take part with their own cars. The participating racecars have all to be Italian made Fortex with 125 CC, one cylinder, and 29-horse power engine.
“All the final touches have been given to the venue for the launch of the two rounds,” ace rally driver Abdullah Bakhashab, who is organizing the event, told the media on Sunday. “This race is still acting as the first step toward attracting and spotting talent among youth for future participants of F1 competitions,” he added.
The race, sponsored by Toyota and Mobil 1 in addition to IN 10 SO, is being held under the supervision of the Saudi Motorsport Federation.

Housein Al-Sharief (67), Abdullah Al-Mutari (38), Hassan Sharbatly (37), Maher Moumenah (37) and Yazan Hamadah (37).
