RIYADH: Al Hudaithy, Pizza Hut and JDB claimed decisive Game 3 victories to win titles in the Open, Inter-Company Bonafide and 38 and above categories of the 15th Season Basketball Fever in Riyadh.
The best-of-three championship series deciders brought a fitting end to the three months long tournament hosted by Sheraton Riyadh Hotel & Towers, sponsored by Merex Cargo Forwarders-M. Lhuiller, through Finance Controller Dan de Jesus, for the benefit of children of Unicef. Stuart G. Birkwood, general manager of Sheraton, threw his full support to the City Center cagefest in which Sizzlerhouse through Randy Assistin provided lunch-dinner voucher for the first 3-point shots.
Roy David, Ankie Angeles and M. Mallari scored 27, 24 and 22 points as Pizza Hut beat arch rival Saudi Oger 108-105 in the first game of a championship triplebill.
JDB received 20 points from O. Torres and 17, 14 and 11 points from Danny Bugayong 17, Rey Manigbas 14, C. Dimaculangan 11 to score an 81-76 victory over Lotus.
In the nightcap, the Hudaithy team of Tess Garcia and Mich Ubas scored its second consecutive victory over D’ Disers 102-93 after losing the series opener to underscore its billing as one of the top ballclubs in Riyadh. Hudaithy led from start to finish.
Dan de Jesus of Merex Forwarders and Jun Mallare of Arab News awarded the trophies and valuable gifts including 21-inch digital TV for the MVP. Randy Assistin of Sizzler House provided meal coupons for the first player to score three-pointer in every game. The awardees are as follows:
