JEDDAH: “My Country...Your Tourist Guide” is the title of a new tourist guide launched by the Saudi Tourism Guidance Company.

Introducing the first edition of the guide, which is to become bilingual in Arabic and English from its next issue, Ammar Ahmed Shams, executive president of the Saudi Tourism Guidance Company, said that the guide is the first of its kind to be approved and licensed by the Ministry of Culture and Information.

“The guide, whose first edition is in Arabic but subsequent issues will be in both Arabic and English, focuses on tourist attractions in Jeddah,” he said, adding that 50,000 copies of the inaugural issue will be distributed to all those involved in the travel industry, as well as in shopping malls and supermarkets.

“We will publish the guide periodically, and each issue will focus on different Saudi cities and their rich tourist attractions with a view to guiding visitors and tourists to have a unique uderstanding of sights to see, recreations, eateries and shopping,” said Abdul Khaliq Al-Zahrani, a journalist and the guide’s editor in chief.

“We will also be making efforts to promote cooperation with prominent establishments in the tourism industry including the General Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (GCTA), besides promoting investments in the industry and also increasing awareness of tourism among the public.”
