JEDDAH: It was the bowlers who called the shots last week at the JCL Obhur Complex. The highlights being Usman Jani of Usman Gems taking a hat trick while Jameel Khan of Aggreko bowled devastatingly to take 4 for 13 in a two-over spell of medium pace.
The first match was between Arabian Auto Agency against the other new entrant into the league Aggreko Cricket Club the latter beating the automen by 8 wickets.
In the other match Usman Gems got the better of new entrants Usman Gems Blue Cricket Club by 27 runs in a 16-over match. On JCL No. 2 Arabian Auto Agency (AAA) elected to bat first against Aggreko Cricket Club. Opener Naveed Khan was in full flow right from the word go to score 33 off 24 balls. Hashim Khan, who survived a confident appeal for leg before first ball he faced stroked a fabulous 50 to give some respectability to the score.
Later on Jameel Khan of Aggreko struck taking 4 wickets for 13 runs restricting opponents to 129 for 8 in 16 overs. Aggreko C.C. achieved their target in 71 ball scoring 131 for 2. Aftab Khan was in full flow plundered the AAA bowlers all over the ground for his unbeaten 80 not out in 38 balls along with Yunus Khan who made 23 and Owais chipped in with 14 not out.
On JCL No. 1, Usman Gems Club got to the tally of 127 for 8 in 16 overs as Mohammed Azam of Usman Gems Blue with 3 for 18 wrecked through the fancied batting line up of Usman Gems with Shahnawaz run out without scoring followed by Aijaz Butt for 8.
It was then left to Usman Qureshi (23) and Ijaaz Ahmed (29) to give some hope of a competitive target to bowl against with most of the batsmen unable to cross double digits. A. Mohammed took 2-33.
Usman Gems chasing this moderate target were bowled out for 100 for 9 in the stipulated 16 overs.
Usman Jani in his second over took 3 wickets in the first three balls to register the first hat trick of the season and tournament. His figures were 2-0-3-4.
With this win Usman Gems is leading with 12 points with 3 wins in as many matches as Aggreko are second with 4 points after 2 matches.w Others are yet open their accounts.
