More than a photo frame
Digital photo frames are popular gifts and Samsung has put a lot of thought into every aspect of the new SPF-87H — right down to more attractive packaging. This photo frame has a “Touch of Color” design which suits any location. Only 23 mm thick and with an 8-inch screen, the SPF-87H can be powered up either by connecting it with a USB cable to a PC, or by using a standalone power adapter.
The photo frame offers 1 GB of internal memory and features a slide show mode and clock function with various options. It can also be used as a mini-monitor, enabling users to conveniently surf the Web.
Total IT security
Targeting small businesses, McAfee has joined with HP to offer an 18-month subscription, valued at 46 euros, for McAfee’s Total Protection Service on HP desktop and notebook PCs in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). The service will include anti-virus, anti-spyware, firewall and basic e-mail virus protection, centrally managed by McAfee. Updates to the service are handled automatically.
This service is available from HP Preferred Partners in the form of a physical card. The card, including an activation code, will enable the end user to activate McAfee’s Total Protection Service, which is preloaded on select HP commercial desktop and notebook PCs.
Food product scores
FoodFacts.com has loaded a new resource to its nutritional arsenal: the FoodFacts Health Score. More comprehensive than Weight Watchers, this rating system reflects the quality of ingredients in over 75,000 food products in addition to the traditional measures of protein, fat, fiber, vitamins and added sugar.
When FoodFacts.com members search for a food product in the database, the FoodFacts Health Score will appear below the item’s nutrition facts with a color coded scale. The number and color coding allows the user to quickly evaluate a food’s nutrition, vitamins and ingredients content and determine if that food is a healthful dietary addition. If more information is desired, just click on the scale to see why the product received the rating it did.
The FoodFacts Health Score complements FoodFacts.com’s diet and food allergy management tools, which include a search function that eliminates unwanted ingredients and a quick recipe finder.

Music for your ears
MP3 players have made entire music collections portable — with some sacrifice to high quality sound. Now from Monster comes Turbine Pro In-Ear Speakers. Monster describes the in-ear headphones as an “advanced personal listening solution” that offers users the same sonic impact, power and performance as reference quality high-end loudspeakers. The company claims that Turbine Pro provides the speed and delicacy of an electrostatic speaker, with the power that dynamic speakers deliver, coupled with a subwoofer that can reproduce a true 20Hz tone.
Along with Turbine Pro, Monster is also introducing SuperTip eartips that give superior noise isolation, while improving the overall performance of the headphones by preventing sound leakage. Monster Turbine Pro In-Ear Speakers retail for $300 or $330 with Monster’s ControlTalk headphone cable, which can be used with smartphones for full music playback control, as well as to take hands-free calls.
